If you want to learn about light and composition, you must turn to Rembrandt’s works, he’s THE Man.
A while ago, my teacher pushed me to do the basics again. So, we decided to copy this painting of Lucretia from Rembrandt, arranged a sitting model – a Balinese beauty, then voila, we learnt something new again.
Eventually the light setting we have in the studio was slightly different from Rembrandt’s painting, and our model is a much much lovelier person than a murderous girl.
It’s not easy to take photo from a dark shiny painting, so the detail picture is coming from a slightly awkward angle.
